The New Look HostedFX

Since I’ve been back from vacation I have been working extremely hard on the new HostedFX design and intregrating the forums. The forums are complete, and the homepage is almost complete – just a couple more subpages to sort out :)

The new professional look to HostedFX will hopefully welcome all visitors into our site. Nothing has changed with our service or support – it remains as great as it has ever been ;)

What do you guys think of the new look?

Server 1 – Optimization

Today the server has been configured and additional applications have been installed to make the server perform even better than it currently does. Firstly, phpaccelerator was installed on to the server, this will enable faster processing of all php files on the server. Secondly, the mySQL settings on the server were tweaked to allow great memory usage for mySQL. This means that applications that work based off mySQL (such as forum software, galleries etc) will now run faster and page load time will be shorter. This is the latest upgrade in our continued efforts to make our customers experience as pleasant as possible.

Server 1 Rebooted

Today at 4:38PM GMT Server 1 was rebooted. The servers need to be rebooted every so often as a matter of precaution.

Estimated downtime: 7 minutes.

PHP5 Coming Soon!

This is just a notice to inform you that PHP5 will be installed onto our server within the next couple of months. I do not have an exact date as of yet, as the datacenter are working through all of the servers one by one (there are thousands!).

PHP will be version 4 by default as it has been. But you can use .php5 as the extension for any single file you want parsed with PHP5. If you would like all of your .php pages to parse as PHP5 exclusivly, you just add a line to your .htaccess file:

Code: Select all
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

Else just leave it as it is, and make use of the .php5 extension

If you only wish to use PHP4 and all your sites are fine on PHP4 then you don’t have to do anything. Using PHP5 is completely optional as I have made sure that our current version (PHP4) will remain on the server exactly as it has been.
